After 3 and a half years since the launch of D700, now comes the highly anticipated release of the D800. Today, Nikon officially made the announcement and boy it didn’t disappoint! Besides taking key features from the high-end D4, the D800 comes with a whopping 36.3 effective megapixels full frame CMOS sensor! It also has Full HD 1080p video at 30/25/24p with stereo sound, ISO range of 100-6400, expandable to 25,600, 4 fps burst rate and Advanced Scene Recognition System with 91,000-pixel RGB sensor.
As ecstatic as I may be, a friend of mine pointed out a technically interesting thought: one has to wonder how Nikon can achieve so much megapixels in the same 36 x 24 mm sensor? Maybe the Advanced Scene Recognition System with 91,000-pixel RGB sensor is truly innovative that can maintain the optimal level of picture quality and sharpness. Even the high-end D4 is only at 16 megapixels! Something to thing about. But until we get our hands on one, we wouldn’t know. Will have to test it out for myself.
Nevertheless, I’m as excited as I can be! Definitely, no one can burst my bubble!
